IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility and Application Process

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Interested students must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the institute’s admission notification.

Required Scores and Selection Criteria

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Admission to IIT Delhi

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. IIT Delhi will invite candidates with strong academic records for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
