The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals can apply for admission to PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are being accepted online. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Interested candidates can access the portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. The referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International exam scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
International students must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
