IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility Criteria and Requirements
Admission requirements may include scores from national-level entrance exams. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
