IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals can submit their applications for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is available online at international.iitd.ac.in. The window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.

Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters for the applicant.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will comment on proficiency in the chosen field. The assessment will also cover research potential, independent thinking, and English speaking and writing skills.

Required Test Scores

Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also relevant.

Scores from the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program may be required. International exam scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proficiency in English language tests is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
