IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on the application deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This is done through a self-declaration. They must also provide the names of two referees.

Application Requirements

Referees will be contacted. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. These details are outlined in the official notification.

Academic Qualifications and Tests

Candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) are also listed. The DST INSPIRE fellowship is another option.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
