IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admissions Overview

The application window is open for admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, can apply for both PhD and PG courses.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They are also required to provide names and contact information for two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Their assessment will focus on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance during an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
