IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
