IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters. The letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility and Selection

Admission may require scores from national-level tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A strong academic record is necessary to be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

English Proficiency Tests

Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
