IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Details
The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees.
Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is required as per the institute’s notification.
Eligibility and Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs requires specific test scores. Candidates may need to submit scores from Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency is a mandatory requirement. Applicants must submit scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
