IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for international students is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals can apply for the upcoming academic year, 2026-27. Applications are being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Required Examinations

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International English language proficiency tests are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

The application portal for foreign national candidates closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested students should complete and submit their applications before this time.
