Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.
The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process evaluates a candidate’s suitability for the program.
