Admission Process for International Students

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to submit the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program. Scores from international tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Final admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
