The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Application Details
International students are eligible for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field. The potential for research and independent thought is also evaluated. English language skills will be reviewed.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores are also considered.
Accepted international exams include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge English Examination may also be required.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
