IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on the applicant’s performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
