IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
The institute is open to applications from non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. They are required to submit a self-declaration regarding their English skills.
Candidates must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Their recommendations will focus on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication abilities.
Admission Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will assess candidates with strong academic records. These candidates will be invited for the interview after their initial application review.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Academic Years
Applications are for admissions to the academic year 2026-27 . The admission portal will close promptly on March 30, 2026.
