IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility and Requirements
The program is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency.
Candidates are required to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
