The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through standardized tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive invitations for interviews. These interviews are conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
