IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Admission Process

Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered for admission. English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may be necessary.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
