IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

International students can apply for PhD and postgraduate courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are processed through IIT Delhi’s official international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This is typically done via a self-declaration. They must also provide the names of two individuals for recommendation letters.

Academic Requirements

Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. Applicants may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These may include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant department.
