IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

The institute is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration.

Application Requirements

Candidates must provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. The official notification states referees will comment on “overall aptitude, proficiency in chosen field, potential for research and independent thinking and proficiency in oral and written English.”

Academic and Language Proficiency

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be proven. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Applicants can also submit scores from other recognized language tests.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The institute will evaluate candidates’ overall suitability for the chosen program.

Application Timeline

The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . This is for admissions for the academic year 2026-27.
