IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals

International candidates can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi website at international.iitd.ac.in. This application window is for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who are not Indian nationals are eligible. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.

Applicants need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters commenting on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Required Examinations

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
