IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open for international students . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic years 2026-2027. Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Selection Process

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
