IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT may also be accepted.

Admission Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
