Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.
International examination scores are also considered. This includes Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel consists of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . The academic year for admission is 2026-27 .
