IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit scores from tests like GRE or GMAT.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
