The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility for International Applicants
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They must also provide details for two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
The referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
