IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open to foreign national students for the 2026-27 academic year. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Admission Process and Requirements

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude and research potential. They will also comment on written and oral English skills. The notification stated these assessments are crucial.

Eligibility may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be acceptable.
