IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency.
Application Requirements
Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will detail the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Academic Qualifications
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
English Proficiency Tests
Applicants must submit scores from English language tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
