IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 pm on the application deadline date.

Admission Process and Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.

Candidates are evaluated based on their academic records and performance in an interview. Those with strong academic backgrounds will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
