IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement confirming their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English language command.
Academic Qualifications
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Cambridge English are also required.
