IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Process for International Students

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
  • International Exams: GRE, GMAT.

English language proficiency scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The interview assesses the candidate’s overall suitability for the program.
