IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30, 2026

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 .

Required Documents and Scores

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. Two referees will be required to submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific national or international tests. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
