IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility Requirements

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through a self-declaration. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

The referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities, according to the institute’s notification.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also considered.

International standardized test scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
