IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores may also be accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Additionally, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admissions based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
