IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
The application window is open for admissions to the academic year 2026-27. International candidates, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. The referees will be evaluated on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
