IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must visit the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Candidates may be required to submit scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English Proficiency Tests

A statement of English proficiency is mandatory. Candidates must also submit scores from tests such as:

  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • TOEIC
  • OPI
  • OPIC
  • Cambridge English Examination

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
