IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their English skills. Applicants must also provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Admission Requirements
Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English Proficiency Tests
Proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Applicants must submit scores from at least one of these recognized tests.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
Application Timeline
The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM IST. The academic year for admitted students will be 2026-27.
