IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Comments from referees will cover a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and English Proficiency Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national Indian entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
