IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal is open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. This opportunity is for foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examinations are also considered. Accepted scores include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee assesses the candidate’s suitability for the program.
