Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal is accessible online at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic Qualifications and Tests
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English language tests is also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
