IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from examinations such as:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students may also need to provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records receive invitations for interviews. These interviews are conducted by faculty committees from the relevant academic disciplines.
