IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals are eligible for admission to the 2026-27 academic year. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Admission to PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

Proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
