Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency.
Two referees must be named. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to an official notification from IIT Delhi.
Academic Qualifications and Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Additionally, proof of English language proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is necessary.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This selection process aims to assess candidates’ suitability for advanced study and research.
