IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open for foreign national students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

International students can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year . Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi website for international students at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

Submission of scores from national or international examinations may be required. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview assesses their suitability for the program.
