IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being processed for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent language assessments.
