Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Application Details
The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Candidates must also nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated. Acceptable scores include those from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
