Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 .
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes students holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency.
Required documentation includes a statement of English proficiency. Candidates must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These may include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
