Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are being accepted through IIT Delhi’s official international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to the official notification.
Some candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores may be required. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
