IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants need to submit a statement on their English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT.
Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also required.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.
An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline, will conduct these interviews.
