IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs. The application window is open for admissions to the academic year 2026-2027 . This opportunity is available to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams in India. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
International applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants should ensure their chosen test is recognized by IIT Delhi.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview aims to assess suitability for the program.
